Seawater carbonate chemistry with R (seacarb)

4D Import data set - Config

Import measured and seacarb calculated sewater carbonate chemistry in one dataset

  • PI of original data/measured data = author of paper or the person who provided the original data
  • PI of seacarb calculated values = OA-ICC Data Curator
  • Method for seacarb calculation = Calculated using seacarb after Nisumaa et al. (2010) (Method ID 6426)
  • Refer to the seacarb citation (Reference ID 60864), set relation to Further details

4D Import data set - Details
  • Add the date of seacarb calculation as dataset comment. Date must be provided in ISO-format (e.g. 2013-10-16)
  • Give the short explanation of seacarb calculation into the dataset comment: coming up soon, will be written by J.-P. Gattuso and Y. Yang

Example: Edmunds, 2012 doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.820070

Examples of data archiving

1) Data not yet archived

  • Import all (georeferenced) data, combine measured seawater chemistry with seawater carbonate chemistry calculation (seacarb).
  • If more than one dataset is archived, create a Parent.
  • Add the (paper's) abstract to the parent/single dataset and set the reference relation Supplement to; definition of supplement
  • Set the project OA-ICC (Project ID 4173) in the Supplement to data set, childs do not have a project.

Example: Edmunds et al., 2012, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.820323

2) Data previously published in another database with URI (e.g. BCO-DMO):

4D Reference example URI
  • Import measured seawater chemistry combined with seawater carbonate chemistry calculation (seacarb).
  • Mirroring also all other (georeferenced) data.
  • Create a reference for the external database link (URI and title, nothing else), and link this reference to all datasets, relation Other version.

Example: Comeau et al., 2012, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.820164.

3) Data previously published in another database with DOI (e.g. BODC):

4D Reference example DOI
  • Import measured seawater chemistry combined with seawater carbonate chemistry calculation (seacarb).
  • Do not archive the other data.
  • Add the (paper's) abstract to the parent/single dataset and set the reference relation Supplement to; definition of supplement
  • Set the project OA-ICC (Project ID 4173)
  • Create a reference for the external published doi (e.g. Hennige et al., 2012 BODC), give full citation information, and link this reference as Original version in the Pangaea dataset.

Example: Hennige et al., 2013, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.820339.

4) Data previously published in Panagea

4D Import data set - References, new dataset
  • Create a table with measured seawater chemistry and the carbonate chemistry calculation (seacarb). Import this table.
  • References of this dataset:
    • Article citation, relation Related to
    • Original Pangaea parent dataset or a single data set which is a supplement to the article, relation Related to
    • Original measured seawater carbonate chemistry dataset, relation Original version
  • No abstract is added.
  • Set the project OA-ICC (Project ID 4173)

Example: Schalkhausser et al., 2013, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.820432.

4D Import data set - References, original dataset
  • Update original measured seawater carbonate chemistry dataset: link to the new carbonate chemistry calculation version as Further detail and with the comment Carbonate chemistry recalculation by seacarb

see Schalkhausser et al., 2013, doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.789153.
