Data can be retrieved and exported from PANGAEA in various ways.

• PANGAEA search (on the home page at http://www.pangaea.de)

• DOI (Digital Object Identifier)
• through Portals, established by using panFMP
• Data warehouse (logged in users only)
• Multiple data files at once from a single dataset
• pangaeapy: a Python module to download and analyse metadata as well as data from tabular PANGAEA datasets
• pangaear: an external R client to interact with the PANGAEA
