The method tabel contains any definitions of analytical equipment, tools, or publications describing a specific method.

Method table with all Magnetometer methods. Find the generic method with ID=225

Methods are a wide range of items and thus are hard to structurize. When defining a new method, the general term should come first, followed by a specification. If a specific method is defined, a link to a descriptive page or handle linking to a pdf is recommended. Versions of a method mostly contain one generic definition.

  • Example: a search for Magnetometer will show one generic tool (ID=225) and various more specific tools. Some are linked to its description.

To find a specific method, a retrieval with 'method contains ...' may help.

To define a new method, open the method table, click on <new> and fill out the fields:

  • Name - full name of the method, should be haeded by the general term
  • Reference - is relational to the reference table in which the reference, describing the method, is defined.
  • URL - Link to a descriptive web page or a document. A link via a handle to the document archived in ePIC is recommended.
  • Comment - the content of this field is not shown in the official data description; its for internal information only.
